If there's no database, how do I move my data if I get a new phone?

Right now, the data sits only on your phone. This is a deliberate choice to ensure your privacy.

We are thoroughly considering how to enable data migration and multi-device sync without Weekly Bu ever interfering with nor owning your private data. While we don't have a migration solution in this early version of the app, it is a priority for our future development.

Is my data backed up?

Not right now—but we are fully committed to providing options that keep you in control of your data. Since we do not use a central database, we currently do not have a backup of your check-ins or the values you choose. We are rushing to provide a completely private solution that allows you to secure your data without Weekly Bu ever owning or having access to it.

Will you ever see my private discussions?

Never. Never.

Your relationship is a sacred space. We do not track any type of personal data, and we do not perform any such tracking currently—and we do not wish to do it.

To be absolutely clear about our philosophy: we would like to track how the app is used, but never what is being said. We want to know if the buttons work, if the navigation is intuitive, and if the check-in flow helps you stay committed.

We do not track, and will never track, the personal content of your relationship: the values you choose, the specific words you say, or the private details of your discussions.

In the future, any tracking we perform will be strictly anonymous and aggregated. This means we might see high-level interactions like "a check-in was completed" or "a topic took 10 minutes to finish," but we will never know who completed it, which specific topic was discussed, or the personal content that was shared. Even when we look at the data, there is absolutely no indication of who provided it or which device it came from.
